WHITEY IN THE HOOD

Jack Kelly, former Wall Street trader takes a job as a truck driver, delivering liquor in one of America’s most dangerous urban neighborhoods. Jack has spent a lifetime traveling the globe, only to find the most foreign land of all, only a few miles from his home. Along the way, Jack befriends a host of colorful characters including a mentally ill Chinese woman who sells newspapers on a street corner, a green-eyed, black man who is a sidewalk ambassador by day and a 75 year old playboy by night, a sociopathic Egyptian who fantasizes about orgies with dead bodies, a millionaire who loses all that he has and ends up as what he describes as a ‘truck driver’s nigger,’ a schizophrenic hippy who travels to Jupiter on the weekends and most of all, a homeless man named Ralph, who lost his sanity years ago, while Jack is still searching for his.

Whitey In the Hood offers the reader an up-close and very intimate look at a part of America that few Americans ever see. The characters come alive speaking in language that is authentically their own.
